Light Painting for Still Life and Landscape Photography - Harold Ross

7:30 - 9:30pm
Admission Free    Charlotte Woods, Harold Ross

With over 25 years as a full time professional photographer/artist, Harold is an experienced night and still life photographer and educator, and has, or the vast majority of those years, been using light painting as his primary lighting technique. He's developed a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of the technique, and his approach to light painting is a subtle and naturalistic one. This isn't light painting with streaks and light trails, but rather a more contemplative approach which is focused on revealing that which is beyond the eye's normal scope.

Harold shoots in a darkened environment, whether in the studio or in the landscape at night, using long exposures, while "painting" the light onto the subject. He creates images with tremendous detail, dimension and texture. Often, these images have a painterly feel.

For this program, Harold will show his work, explain his process, and then give a live demonstration, creating a still life image from start to finish. He will then process the digital files and work in Photoshop to produce a final image.

You can learn more about light painting and follow his blog http://haroldrossfineart.workpress.com and on his website: http://www.haroldrossfineart.com/

Harold Ross gives talks, teaches workshops, and exhibits his work in the US and China.
