Artist's Statement and Process Description:

“Chaos is intermediate between true randomness and complete predictability”
– Edward Lorenz

As an artist, I do not believe the abstract vision has been exhausted. It is my intent to combine collage, gesture, process, new paint Califonia - John Alan Nybergtechnology, and abstract illusion applied to the plastic art of painting, in an attempt to push the genre of abstract vision.
My studio is a synergy of ideas expressed in any material or media at hand. I am presently exploring combinations of abstract collages using mixed-media acrylic paint peeled from plastic sheeting. Many coats of clear acrylic medium and paint are painted, dripped, mixed, or let run down a surface to create lines or strange areas of color.

These peels often form in natural chaos patterns much as frost and other things in nature form according to the physical properties of the materials. These peels are then rearranged or cut into shapes or circles and reassembled into a collage using thread, medium and paint. They are then peeled again and mounted on gessoed board. For diversity, they have been hung un-mounted directly on the wall with stick pins. As far as I know no other artists are using anything quite like this process.

The work involves rhythmical movement, deep space, rich textures, action lines, joyous color, risk, and the play of creation.
During the past four decades, I have experimented with collage, assemblage and abstraction. I have always been interested in painting something I or anyone else has not seen before. I strive to create a powerful, interesting visual impact for the viewer as well as an original aesthetic expression. I want my work to be a well crafted object of great beauty, have a social message or make the viewer think. I have traveled down many paths to get past the many clichés of other artists.
