Pittsburgh-based artist Rob Larson works primarily by combining spray painted stencils and single color silkscreens to create striking monochromatic images reminiscent of photographs. Crafted in October 2009, this show is meant to illustrate life, death and the afterlife with images of dark and desolate urban landscapes. Combining photography, silkscreen prints, spray paint and stencils- these images are meticulously created and then attached to hand-made wood frames with a wheat paste mixture. The show contains three groupings.
1. Falling/Flying- These are the people that seem to be caught between life and death. Not yet dead, they are moving away from life.
2. Harbingers- Those who bring forth death and help the dead to move on. Animals and beings that keep an order to life and death.
3. Ghosts- The dead that have always been there, unseen and many. You may have never seen them, but they have always seen you.
