The following is an email that the artist sent me while working on the show. I felt it made for a perfect artist's statement. - Jay Pastore, Director
"Hi guys, here is my one line sentence about the show which is titled 'Rays Every Heart Observes By Oceans Through Heaven', which spells out REHOBOTH.
The show is about the inspiration of the place and the people involving both gay and straight and is not just a portrait show of the local people. The local people become the art in many respects because of the moments in the pieces but they are not the focus of the show. A portrait of anyone in the show will not be named as such because it is up to the viewer to either see their reflection in the piece or not. The portraits are art character studies of wonderful inspiring people that live in a loving community that embraces gay individuals. The show - the art - reflects this love of life, each other, and sun. It's as much about embracing one another and tolerance as any of my work - this town reflecting this tiny slice of heaven.
One sentence to describe the show: 'The show is art inspired by Rehoboth- a gay friendly creative community filled with the color and light of wonderous people and places.'
Furthermore, many times art trys to reach beyond what you see in glance to become something more - something spiritual. Rehoboth is a tine piece of Heaven on earth where art can be seen, drawn, inspired and born as it is nourished by a simple summer's kiss from an ocean breeze." - OLAN
