Paul C. Kerkhoven is a green energy consultant who has lived in Washington, DC since the early eighties. He was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was fifteen years old. He started exploring making gold and silver jewelry, which he says is now his real “passion in life”, because he wanted to make some unique Christmas and birthday presents for his family and some of his closest friends. He loves to use petrified wood, dinosaur bone, coral and other formerly living materials, some of which can be over 140 million years old. He says that the stones, “come alive” when he works with them and incorporates them in his works. He hopes that they will for his customers as well. His pieces are elegant and delicate, yet simple and beautiful, and have recently been showcased in the Washington Post.
