Artist Statement
My intention is to create spaces that breathe color, allowing the medium to dictate its presence and express its own pictorial language. I seek to create a sense of free movement and emotionality in my work - images that evoke contemplation, reflection, and delight.
I see my paintings as tales laden with suggestion and visual prose, images that might generate familiarity, but also invoke imaginary spaces. I don't follow any intellectual schema in my work - my compositions are purely instinctual. The evolution of my work has taken a natural course, following not only the duality of my cultural experience, but also the travels of my own life. Most of all, I hope my paintings transcend cultural borderlines into the realm of spirit that is felt universally.
