About the Artist

Duane Rieder has been a successful advertising photographer for over twenty years. His career began while at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and his business officially opened in 1986. In that time span, he has worked with national and international clients. This allowed him to purchase and renovate Engine House no. 25, an historic Pittsburgh landmark. This 100 year old firehouse has been converted into a working 12,000 square foot photography studio. It is in this unique space that he has created award-winning images for clients such as United Airlines, The Discovery Channel, ESPN, Animal Planet, TLC, DeWalt Power Tools, Nike, Footlocker, Hawaiian TelCom, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Nationwide Insurance, Mellon Bank, the Pittsburgh Pirates, GQ Magazine, Bayer Corp., VIntage Books, and Highmark BCBS. His work has also been published in the Photography Annual 48th Edition of Communication Arts Magazine.

He is also currently working on a personal project documenting Major League Baseball. His baseball book is a very rare and intimate glimpse into the workings  of the big leagues, with portraits of Mark McGuire, A-Rod, Vladimir Guerrero, Greg Maddux, Jose Reyes, and Ozzie Smith, just to name a few. This book is in the process of being published nationally. He has recently converted part of the Fire House into a baseball museum for Roberto CLemente, whose family has given him the rights to all of his memorabilia and film negatives. He lives in Pittsburgh with his wife Kate, and his two daughters, Scout and Zowie.
