Artist Statement
Whether figurative or interpretative, organic or geometric, a common thread in my work is a clear definition of all the elements in the composition. Important elements are color, balance, depth, luminosity and transparency. The background and negative spaces are as critical as the primary elements in the composition. In every painting, I strive for harmony and flow of composition.
Process is key in my work. Each final piece is a result of several studies and sketches. I delight in the process and evolution, as much as I do completing a matured work. I have worked with the human form, done portraiture and explored different conceptual abstractions.
