2011 JURIED PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

Eligibility
Open to all photographers 18 years and older. All works must have been created during 2010 or 2011. Each piece must be framed, wall ready and presented professionally to conservation standards. No works are to have been previously exhibited at Packard Reath Gallery or Gallery 50. Works are limited to gelatin silver, inkjet or archival pigment prints. No mixed-media works will be accepted.
Sales
Retail prices are set by the artists and must accurately reflect their current retail pricing. The gallery where a piece is purchased will take a 50% commission of the purchase price. The gallery will also be paid 50% of the purchase price for any displayed work that is later purchased by any client who first saw the work at either gallery during this exhibition. The artist gives the gallery the right to discount work up to 10%. In the case of discounted sales, which are limited to no greater than 10 percent of the listed retail price, the discount shall be deducted equally between the commissions of both the gallery and the artist.
Losses or Damage
The artist will be responsible for packing, shipping, insurance and other handling expenses and risk of loss or damage incurred during delivery of artworks to or from the galleries. The galleries shall insure the works of art in their possessions for 50% of the retail price. If an artwork is damaged beyond reasonable repair the artist will receive 50% of the retail price previously set forth by the artist.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES:
Image entries should be submitted in JPEG form in an electronic file. This file should also include a word document that includes the artist's name, bio and artist statement, as well as contact information- land address, email address, and phone number.
Image Files should be named with the artist's name, followed by the number of the submission and the the title of the piece.
Use no spaces, but only underscores to divide, for example:

Promotion/Reproduction/Copyright
The artist grants the galleries the right to use images of any works of art in the exhibition for publicity and promotional purposes. This includes the implied consent of the artist to allow the galleries to display any artworks on the gallery's website. The artist shall retain all intellectual property rights in the artworks, including without limitations of copyrights. The artist will provide the galleries a limited license to reproduce artworks as provided by this agreement.
Fees
A non-refundable fee of $20 U.S. Dollars entitles the artist to submit three images. No artist may submit more than three images.
Artists should send a check or money order payable to "Packard Reath / Gallery 50" and mail it to Gallery 50 (address listed below).

Awards
First Place 200.00 dollars, Second Place 150.00 dollars, Third Place 100.00 dollars.
Accepted Works
Upon notification of acceptance of work, the artist must ship or hand deliver the accpeted piece(s) to arrive at the appropriate gallery no later than August 28, 2011. Shipped work must be sent in a reusable container, as this container will be used to return unsold work. A pre-paid shipping label, to be used to ship works back to the artist, must accompany all shipped works Identification tages should be attached to the back of each work and with the return shipping label enclosed. DO NOT USE STYROFOAM PEANUTS. A street address must be used for return shipping. Cost of return shipping must be inclosed with the shipped work.
All hand deliveries must be picked up by October 15, 2011. Work which arrives damaged or which does not meet the specified conditions for exhibition may be disqualified. Please ensure that frames or plexiglass are not scratched or damaged. Entries in damaged frames or scratched plexiglass will not be exhibited. No accepted work may be withdrawn before the end of the exhibition without the permission of the gallery(s).

Artist's Receptions and Openings-
Each work will be exhibited at both Packard Reath Gallery and Gallery 50 for two weeks.
Packard Reath Gallery will host a reception on Saturday, September 4, 2010 and
Gallery 50 will host a reception from 6:00 - 9:00pm on Saturday, September 11, 2011.
